Building Budgets from Below

The following document, a product of a UNIFEM supported program, is one of 7 analytical reports on Gender Responsive Budgets that were completed and published in the Follow the Money' Series, South Asia. The well-received reports, have been in wide demand by GRB practitioners from around the world. This initiative has also been highly influential in the increase of allocations reflecting women's priorities as well as the inclusion of women in the planning process of economic governance at the local level in India.

Action for Development (ACFODE) Experiences at the Local Level

The publication is comprehensive review of ACFODE of Uganda's gender budgeting experiences at the local level. Among some of the topics discussed in the newsletter are ACFODE's initiatives, mission, activities, lessons learnt, local level gender budget research and more.

Mainstreaming Gender into Egypt's Socio-Economic Development Plan--A Success Story

The report published by the Egyptian National Council for Women, and available in English and Arabic, summarizes their success in mainstreaming gender into the Socio-Economic Development Plan by highlighting methods such as gender budgeting and performance based budgeting with a gender approach, and the subsequent impact on the national budget allocations.

Equality and Public Finances- A Discussion Paper on Gender Responsive Budgeting

The following report, published by The Nordic Council of Ministers, is part of a Nordic cooperation project that strives to contribute to the integration of a gender and equality perspective into Nordic financial policy. The report, which was distributed at a Gender budgeting seminar with over 70 governmental participants, outlines a number of examples of methods that are used in the Nordic countries and internationally, in order to compare gender equality analyses, including a gender perspective on the allocation of resources as well as understanding equality within different sectors.
