This brief paper has been prepared in accordance with the guidance note from UN Women in consultation with the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC), Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG) and the Institute for Social Transformation. The paper targets Legislators and the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED). It calls on the Government to assess the impacts of COVID-19 and other natural disasters on different vulnerable groups and adjust the National Budget for the financial year 2020/21 to respond to the immediate needs and realities of the people. It proposes realistic Fiscal Stimulus Packages that can address the social and economic impacts of COVID-19, taking into consideration gender in all response and recovery plans to stimulate and spur inclusive economic growth. |
